The Size of The Baby

In the ninth week of your pregnancy, the baby is the size of a Green Olive Your nine-week baby measures approximately 0.9 inches and weighs approximately 0.07 ounces, and they are growing quickly.

The Monthly Equivalent for the Ninth Week of Pregnancy

Doctors normally monitor pregnancy by week rather than month, so if you are confused about how many months you are carrying. You are two months pregnant, and you are now entering your third month, in the ninth week of your pregnancy. And there are only some weeks remaining in the first trimester.

Symptoms

The pregnancy hormone hCG is now circulating at its highest level in your body. As a result, some pregnancy signs can be at their peak in the ninth week of your pregnancy. But do not worry. You are just a couple of weeks away from those hormones calming down and making you feel more like yourself. Here are some pregnancy signs to watch out for in your ninth week:

  • Mood swings. Since the pregnancy hormones are still high, as well as other symptoms like nausea and exhaustion, keep ruining your mood, you can find it more difficult to control your emotions. In order to maintain your inner peace, it is fine to slow down, take breaks to nap, relax, or do your favorite activities like binge reading or watching a series and escape unpleasant scenarios.
  • Morning sickness. Morning sickness or nausea affects around 80 percent of pregnant women to a certain extent. You can experience it anytime during the day, and many scents might trigger it. You may be getting a bit queasy or sick on a daily basis if you are suffering from nausea. You may have more serious morning sickness symptoms if you are in the ninth week of your pregnancy with twins. The good news and bad news are that morning sickness is at its peak in the ninth week of pregnancy, and after this, it will slowly go away. Try a few different things to see what works best for you; many pregnant women say that ginger, daily meals and snacks, and vitamin B6 help them feel good. You are going through a tough time right now, but it will pass.
  • Frequent urination. Since your uterus is expanding and there is more blood supply to your pelvic region, you may need to use the washroom more frequently than you would have when you were not pregnant. Do not let this stop you from drinking plenty of water. It is important that you keep yourself hydrated.
  • You may be feeling completely zapped as your hormones are working overtime to rise and grow your 9-week fetus. If you can, get some sleep and prepare to eat more healthy snacks; most pregnant women cannot stand missing meals, even if they did so often before birth. You will recover more of the stamina in the second trimester.
  • Nasal congestion. Pregnancy can trigger increased mucus production in the body, which is an unpleasant symptom, so have tissues on hand.
  • Hormone fluctuations, fatigue, caffeine withdrawal, hunger, sleep deprivation, and stress can all trigger headaches. Deal with it by handling your other triggers, try eating every two hours, get plenty of sleep, and drink plenty of fluids. A warm or cold compress, as well as rest, will help alleviate a headache. Check with the doctor before taking some drugs. Many people believe that acetaminophen (Tylenol) is safe.

It is completely normal to reach the ninth week of your pregnancy with no symptoms. Even you have been fortunate enough to have avoided pregnancy symptoms so far. There are chances that the symptoms might suddenly appear. Regardless, if you do not have it in the ninth week of your pregnancy, inform your doctor at your first prenatal appointment. If you have never had signs and really do not have them now, the odds are you might not get these symptoms at all.

Changes in Your Body in the Ninth Week

In the ninth week of their pregnancy, several expectant mothers struggle to fit into their old clothes. So, it is important to remember that your uterus is increasing to accommodate your developing fetus. In truth, it has more than doubled in size. You may also be showing in the ninth week of your pregnancy. In the coming weeks, your uterus will continue to expand out of your pelvis.

Weight gain in the ninth week of your pregnancy is not only normal but also encouraged.

The amount of weight your OB advises you to gain during pregnancy is determined by your pre-pregnancy Body Mass Index (BMI).

For example, in case you started with a regular BMI, you would most likely be advised to gain 25 to 35 pounds overall during pregnancy, with one to five pounds of that weight gain taking place during your first trimester. If you are in the ninth week of your pregnancy and carrying twins, you should plan to add around a pound per week right now.

However, many pregnant women have so much morning sickness and food aversions in the ninth week of their pregnancy that they may not be gaining weight at all. In fact, they may be losing it.  Naturally, you will want to discuss any questions you have about your weight gain or loss with your doctor, particularly if it is unexpected or dramatic. However, most doctors will advise you that slight weight loss is appropriate at this point in time. When you recover your appetite, you will have a greater chance of resuming your weight gain.  Pregnant women who experience extreme nausea may need more intensive medical care.

While nausea and vomiting are normal during pregnancy, women often under-report their symptoms to their doctor. Some over-the-counter and generic drugs are effective in pregnancy that can help monitor your symptoms. So, tell your OB about your symptoms truthfully, and you can determine if your symptoms fall under normal or not. If not, they will help you get your symptoms under control.

Some expecting mothers suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which is detected when a pregnant woman gets dangerously dehydrated. If you cannot get any water down, are losing a lot of weight, or have fainted, you should visit the doctor, who will run tests to see if you have HG. The encouraging sentiment is that there are HG therapies available. You may need an IV to restore missing fluids, and you and your doctor may opt to use a prescription anti-nausea drug to help you avoid vomiting.

Medical Care in the Ninth Week of Pregnancy

Ultrasound

Usually, the first prenatal consultation takes place between the eighth and the twelfth week. So, you must have already been to the OB by now—if not, you will be soon. During your first visit, you may also be able to see the baby’s tiny heartbeat on the ultrasound.

Ultrasounds are usually administered transvaginal when a patient is in the ninth week of their pregnancy. Since your uterus is still behind your pelvic bone, the ultrasound technician or your doctor would have to insert a probe into your vagina. Do not worry, and it will not hurt. The probe can produce sound waves, allowing you to see a picture of your 9-week-old fetus on a monitor.

In the ninth week of pregnancy, the ultrasound test will not only show you the child, who will resemble a lima bean, but it will also verify that the pregnancy is uterine. This indicates that in the ninth week of your pregnancy, there are no symptoms of an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. The doctor can show you the gestational sac, yolk sac, and fetal pole.

Baby is focusing on developing their facial features in your nine-week pregnant uterus, creating more distinct facial features. And the baby’s pulse could now be high enough to be detected by a fetal doppler.

The fear of a miscarriage is on many women’s minds in the ninth week of their pregnancy. Rest assured that if you see or hear a pulse, the risk drops to 2 to 9 percent, based on your age, and will begin to decrease in the coming weeks.

Blood tests to check for hormone levels, blood type, white and red blood cell counts, and some STDs are some of the other pregnancy checks you can expect after nine weeks pregnant. You can also have a pap smear to look for anomalies (which may be symptoms of cervical cancer) and a urine test to look for UTIs to make sure the protein levels are normal. All of your prodding would be absolutely worth it while you are carrying your newborn child.

Growth of Your Baby in The Ninth Week of Pregnancy

They certainly look like a tiny baby now that your baby is almost an inch long. Baby now has ear lobes, small fingers and toes, and a cute little nose. This is the last week of the baby’s embryo status, and with it comes a more developed and straightened head of the baby. Baby’s arms are now curved at the elbow, and you will be able to see all of this and more in the ultrasound screening.

If you have experienced some extreme symptoms in the ninth week of your pregnancy, you might be shocked to find out at your ninth week of ultrasound that you are expecting twins. This will come as a surprise, so be patient with yourself as you process the details. You may feel elated or nervous about being nine weeks pregnant with twins, but you will become accustomed to the situation. Discuss with your OB what to expect with twins and what you may need to do differently.

Suggestions to Follow During the Ninth Week of Pregnancy

  • Eat regularly to prevent heartburn: Right now, the hormone progesterone is coursing through your body, relaxing the uterine muscles to accommodate your growing baby. It relaxes the valve that is between your esophagus and your stomach, which can cause heartburn, one of the most common and long-lasting pregnancy symptoms. If you really cannot get rid of it, speak to the doctor about getting an antacid, which might contain calcium.
  • Switch to come comfortable and breathable fabrics: At the uncomfortable time where your normal jeans are too short, but your beautiful maternity dress somehow looks like a tent on your nine-week-old pregnant belly, Try wearing stretchy, flexible fabrics. Now is the time to get out all of your leggings, joggers, and skirts with no set waist. Elastic waistbands are about to become your best mate, and you can also get away with your usual stretchy clothing for the time being.
  • Keep yourself hydrated, and it is a cure to a lot of symptoms: Drinking more water will help with a variety of pregnancy issues, including bloating, headaches, and constipation.
