Well, it is a long way you have come with your 14 weeks of pregnancy. Since now you are stepping into the 15th week of pregnancy, you may be experiencing specific changes which you are trying to find answer for, like being highly energetic or a high sex drive ot bleeding gums. Don’t worry, these are normal.

Your baby at 15th Week

When you are 15 weeks pregnant, your baby is like an Apple. It is so because, on average 15-week the fetus is about 4 inches, and now with each passing week, you will feel your fetus growing bigger and bigger. As you step into the 15th week of being pregnant by now, the ears are appropriately positioned by the side of the head, and the eyes are positioning themselves.

While you step into the 15th week of pregnancy, you might experience specific symptoms so let’s see that.

15th Week Pregnancy Symptoms:

  • Bleeding Gums: Generally, during this time, you will find that you are having red or swollen gums. Now this happens because your pregnancy hormones try to trigger inflammation or infection of the gums.
  • Nose Bleeding: Pregnancy hormones are also responsible for creating nosebleeds. It is normal to panic at first, but relax; these are normal and would soon go away after your delivery. But make sure you do talk to your gynecologist regarding it.
  • Heartburn and Indigestion: When you reach the 15th week of your pregnancy, you will start feeling hungry like never before. So, you will try to eat large portions of meals at once, leading to indigestion. In order to prevent this, make sure that you don’t consume a lot of food at once and take small meals regularly.
  • Headaches: Headaches are pretty common during pregnancy as it is induced by several hormonal changes and stress. In order to reduce it, you can place some cool compress on your forehead and on the back of your neck.
  • Ligament Pain: Since the muscles and ligaments supporting your uterus is stretching, you would experience some pain around the lower sides of your belly. Most women at this stage of their pregnancy experience some slight discomfort, however if the pain is becoming severe, then definitely contact your medical practitioner.
  • Increased Sex Drive: Since you are quite energetic now, you might be feeling the same energy in the bedroom. Now it is common however if you are not up for sex and not feeling an enhanced sex drive that is also natural too.

Your Belly at 15 weeks

Generally, by the 15th week, most of your early pregnancy symptoms start disappearing, your uterus is slightly stretching out. However, it depends upon person to person, so if you don’t find a slight baby bump, don’t worry; within some time, it will slowly stick out. Also, make sure your weight gain is healthy. Make a target of gaining about 1 pound weekly so that you will be almost having a net weight gain of 4 pounds. If you are 15 weeks pregnant with twins and you are stretching out at a faster rate. Also, it is recommended that your weight gain is about 1 to 2 pounds per week. However don’t overeat and if you find a sudden weight gain do consult your doctor right away.

15 Weeks Pregnant Ultrasound

An ultrasound at 15 weeks might reveal that your baby is moving their limbs and joints. Apart from this you will be having the following check up done at your doctor’s office

  • Second Trimester Checkup: Generally, you will have your second-trimester checkup now; it is generally taken between week 15 and week 22. During this, you will have a multiple serum checking which provides information about any chromosomal abnormalities and neural tube defects of the baby.
  • Amniocentesis: This generally takes place between week 15 and week 20. It is actually a prenatal test done to check for any chromosomal disorders or neural tube defects. For this, the doctor takes an ultrasound and inserts a needle in your amniotic sack to get a sample of your amniotic fluid.

Well, these tests can be stressing so make sure your partner accompanies you and do take some time off after the tests to give yourself adequate care.

Tips for 15 Weeks Pregnant

  • Adequate Rest: Since you are filled with energy do make sure you don’t overdo things. Do take adequate rests and try to keep your feet up as it helps to reduce backaches, headaches etc.
  • Take a side: Since you baby is getting big enough and is putting quite some pressure on your inferior vena cava blood vessel. So, in order to prevent blood flow problems, try to sleep sideways preferably the left side. A pregnancy pillow would be the best now to make you comfortable.
  • Research about childbirth classes: There is a lot you have on your plate for baby’s birth day. Since you have got some time now, take the time to explore some of the best childbirth classes and pickup one that is comfortable to you

To-Do list for your 15th Week Pregnancy

  • Do make your breakfast a priority: Try to have a healthy, filling, and nutritious breakfast. Under any circumstances, do not try to skip your meal.
  • Track your weight: Do make sure that you have sufficient weight gain, the details of what we mentioned above.
  • Appointment to Dentist: Since by this week you might be having certain dental problems, do make sure that you see a dentist.
  • Exercise: Make sure you are indulging in regular exercise so as to control weight gain and trying to keep your body fit.
