– Elizabeth Stone

Your baby is now about 38cm and 2.2 pounds of weight, which means your baby is gradually growing up inside you. Your baby has started experiencing rapid eye movement during sleep. It is also by this week your baby’s eyes have been shut tight. Your baby is also learning to blink by this week. It is also by this week your baby is sticking their tongue out.

During the 28th week you will be entering your third trimester. Things will start becoming hard for you at this stage, your morning sickness will start, your appetite might decrease, you might feel the weight of your kid on your abdomen, there will be some painful crampy days as well. But know that the end result of all of this will be child/children. You will get to hold your kid in the end in your arms and all these hardships will feel like nothing at that moment.

How many months is 28 weeks of being pregnant?

On completing 28 weeks of being pregnant you will be finally in your seventh month of being pregnant. This means you have completed more than half of the battle and only two to three months are left for you to finally meet your baby.

Symptoms you will be experiencing in the 28th week of your pregnancy.

  • Dizziness: Since your uterus is growing, this puts pressure on your blood vessels which reduces the blood flow to your brain causing dizziness. Try to relax when you feel so and exercise caution so that you don’t hurt yourself.
  • Bleeding Gums: The pregnancy hormones cause mucous membranes into your body which can induce your mouth to be swelled, irritated and bleeding gums. It is very important that you continue flossing and brushing regularly so as to prevent any major disease.
  • Bloating and Gas: The pregnancy hormones cause the intestinal muscles to relax so as to keep the digestive system longer so that the baby absorbs more nutrients. This slows the digestion process so drink lots of water to help things digest in a better way.
  • Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD): If you are feeling pain in the pelvic area, it is caused by SPD due to stretchy ligaments. To reduce it try and wear a supportive belt or ask your doctor for more assistance.
  • Mask of Pregnancy: Pregnancy hormones can cause hyperpigmentation which can lead to a darker complexion. This can lead to moles or patches of bluish and brownish skin on your face which is called melasma. You do not need to worry about this as most f this would fade away after delivery.

Ultrasound on the 28th week of your pregnancy.

This week’s ultrasound is going to be very important. It will show the well-being of your child and since you will be delivering your baby soon, so the position of the baby is very important and should be analyzed every week.

Your baby is taking its time to get ready, prepare itself before it comes out and sees the world. Hence you have to be patient throughout and let your body do the modifications needed. You need to enjoy these little moments before they are gone. Once your baby arrives you will have no time to relax and be on your own. All your energy will go after taking care of your kid. So enjoy these little moments and take the most care of yourself as well.

Since you are almost completing the third trimester, it is getting a bit more uncomfortable now with the baby kicking all day long and all the swelling and back pain. Also, by this week your skin is quite sensitive which is the reason you are developing rashes.

Hence plan these things now, take these decisions now to save all the energy and time for your child later.

  • Analyze the movement of your baby.

During this week your baby’s movements will increase. Your doctor might ask you to analyze the movements, count the kicks as well. Analyzing all the movements and other aspects will be a part of examining the well-being of your baby.

  • Choose your pediatrician.

This is time you decide which pediatrician you will be visiting and ask for assistance once your baby arrives. This is an important decision because you definitely don’t want any doctor to diagnose and take care of your child/children whom you do not trust.
