Your baby at 25th Week

Your baby is now around 33 cm and about 0.68 kg. It is now big as an eggplant. Your baby is now starting to feel reflexes. This is also the time the baby fat is coming and he is slowly putting on weight. The baby’s skin color is changing as small blood vessels known as capillaries are forming under the skin and filling with blood.

How many months are you pregnant at 25 weeks?

When you are in your 25th week it means you are six months of your pregnancy. Generally, doctors track pregnancy via weeks rather than months, however, you can need casual references.

Pregnancy Symptoms at 25 weeks:

  • Snoring: Due to nasal congestion caused due to extra weight and swollen mucous membranes, you would start snoring at your bedtime. Try and wear a nasal strip or use a humidifier to alleviate this.
  • Tingling Hands: Due to swelling it can put pressure on nerves in the wrist and cause the aching and tingling associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Take frequent hand stretching breaks and make sure your writs are straight whenever you are working at a desk.
  • Heartburn and Indigestion: Your heartburn and indigestion will continue for this week, so stay hydrated as much as possible.
  • Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD): If you are feeling pain in the pelvic area, it is caused by SPD due to stretchy ligaments. To reduce it try and wear a supportive belt or ask your doctor for more assistance.
  • Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS): You will also start to feel a tingling sensation in your legs with a strong urge to move them. Do ask your doctor for an iron deficiency test, as most experts feel such syndrome is a result of iron deficiency.
  • Hair Growth: Your hair will feel thicker and lustrous than before. This is due to pregnancy hormones but such hair growth reduces after delivery.
  • Hemorrhoids: Swollen varicose anal veins are common during the second half of your pregnancy as your baby puts a lot of pressure on your digestive tract. So try to keep constipation under control which will prevent straining and future swelling.

Your belly at 25 weeks

Your baby bump is completely mature now, so enjoy this tummy of yours. Along with that more than half of the pregnant women experience itchy veins in the rectum. Though it is normal, however hemorrhoids which are a form of varicose veins can be quite painful and is a form of rectal bleeding. Try to eat a lot of fiber-rich fruits and vegetables to prevent any constipation. Apart from this also take care of your dental health since bleeding gums also becomes quite a problem. Do keep brushing and flossing your teeth regularly.

The ultrasound at the 25th week of Pregnancy

Generally, you would not get an ultrasound at 25 weeks unless your doctor has ordered extra monitoring for your baby. You will visit your OB this month for a routine prenatal visit. Once you are at the 28 weeks of your pregnancy you need to visit your OB every two weeks

  • Routine Prenatal Visit: You might have your routine prenatal visit this week. If you didn’t have your gestational diabetes screening earlier, you will have it this week.
  • 3-Hour Glucose Tolerance Test: If you have your gestational diabetes result is high, you have to test for step two of gestation diabetes testing which is known as the 3-hour glucose tolerance test
  • In this case, your blood will be taken before you start the test.
  • Then you will drink a sugary solution that contains about 100 grams of glucose.
  • After you drink the solution, you will have your blood drawn every hour about 3 times. If the results are within the expected limit, then you don’t have gestational diabetes.
  • Upcoming Doctor Visits: Your regular scheduled prenatal visit will be around 28 weeks. In certain situations, such as high-risk pregnancy, certain tests are performed like biophysical profile, contraction stress test, doppler of the umbilical artery, and fetal non-stress test.

25 Weeks Pregnancy Tips

  • Heart Palpitations: Heart palpitations are quite common in this period, take care of that. Generally, it’s not a cause of concern, however, do consult your doctor in case you feel any concern.
  • Use a Moisturizer: Your skin might be itchy so use some aloe-vera gel or moisturizer to nourish your skin.
  • Blurred Vision: Pregnancy can have an effect on your vision and can lead to dry eyes. So keep a check on that and talk to your doctor about it.

To-Do List this Week

  • Take your prenatal vitamins properly. Do eat proper meals and exercise regularly.
  • Talk to your health insurance provider and discuss creating a policy plan for your baby.
  • Drink a lot of fluids.
  • Talk to your doctor regarding new symptoms.
  • Since you will soon have your baby shower, help your baby shower host with arrangements.
