The growing fetus will make you feel that your belly is getting harder and tighter as the days pass by!

Pregnancy Symptoms at 30 weeks

The thoughts you have in your mind during this time may be weird and scary. However, there is nothing you need to worry about. The only thing you need at this moment is to relax. The more you think, the more things around you will appear to be difficult and challenging. One thing that you can do is just take a drive to test how much time it takes for you to reach your hospital so that just in case of any emergency when you really have to rush, you already know the exact time to reach the hospital. Nevertheless, here are the symptoms you may be facing in the 30th week of your pregnancy.

  • Sleeping issues

This stage of pregnancy makes the mothers-to-be super uncomfortable as they increase their weight and the baby’s weight is harder for them to carry making it difficult for them to toss and turn at night. This results in restless sleep and ultimately you are not able to have a sound sleep. Doing any exercise that would make you tired enough to sleep without bothering about the uncomfortable condition may help a bit.

  • Heartburn/acidity

Heartburn is common in the later weeks of pregnancy. However, it can be controlled if you have a deeper look at the food you consume. If you are eating greasy, acidic, or spicy food, please refrain from eating them. This will alleviate your heartburn and make you more uncomfortable. Try not to eat before going to sleep as acidity or heartburn will make it difficult for you to have a sound slumber.

  • Overall Discomfort

You will have pain everywhere. Back pain-check, leg pain-check, headache-check, and whatnot. All these aches and pains will make you super uncomfortable all the time. Just think positive at this stage that you are just a few weeks away and it may help you relax a bit.

  • Swelling everywhere

Because the volume of the fluid increases in your body will allow your feet to swell and sometimes maybe your face too. However, sudden swelling or swelling which is not normal can be problematic so keep a thorough eye on what’s going on.

  • Breathing problems

Your baby is still up high near your rib cage. The reason your lungs are always feeling crowded causing you to have breathlessness. However, just 3 to 4 weeks more, and then the baby will go lower down in the pelvic area. So just wait and take deep breaths.

Your belly at 30th weeks

At the 30th week, the belly becomes tighter and harder. Also at this stage, you can feel the false contractions also known as Braxton Hicks contractions. Do not worry about them as these are just the body’s tricks to prepare for the big day coming in your life soon.  If you have sex or you do any exercise it is common to experience Braxton Hicks contractions. Whenever you get them, you can sit or lie down in order to stop the contractions. Also drinking water and relaxing will help the false contractions to fade away. However, you need to pay attention to the contractions you get. If you feel contractions four or more than that in an hour you need to call your doctor right away. This is a sign of preterm labor.

Weight gain at 30th weeks of pregnancy

The weight you gain this week should lie between 18 to 25 pounds. On the other hand, if you are having twins the weight may vary from 25 to 40 pounds. However, the fundal height which is the distance between your pubic bone and uterus’s top should lie between 28 to 32 centimeters.

Many moms-to-be worry about their weight gain during their pregnancy particularly the later weeks of pregnancy weight gain. However, remember these extra kgs that you are carrying will aid in breastfeeding your baby. One should not stress about weight gain as long as you are healthy. Not to mention sudden weight gain can be due to preeclampsia. You need to have a look at your weight throughout your pregnancy and monitor it well.

Your baby’s position in 30th weeks

At this stage of your pregnancy, your baby’s head is most likely to be down towards your pelvic area. Your baby is now floating in the amniotic fluid that is about one and a half of a pint. The baby will grow in the upcoming weeks making your belly grow too. It will be all crowded inside as you move closer to your due date.

The ultrasound at the 30th week of pregnancy

At 30 weeks, the doctors do not have an ultrasound scan planned for the mothers. However, if you have any complications then there may be a need for it. Nevertheless, if you can see inside then your baby’s skin is smoother than before. Also, the brain has now more wrinkles to make space for the brain tissues that are important for your baby. You can also see your baby to be strong enough to hold a finger. The baby also has hair on its head and it can now open the eyes wide to see things around them. Also, the fingernails are growing faster whereas they continue to hold their feet in an action they will soon perform once they are out.

For the mothers who are having twins, you may have a biophysical profile which is a combination of ultrasound scan and non-stress test. The non-stress test is to measure the contractions together with the heart rates of the babies by putting sensors on your belly. The main purpose of this test is to check the heart rate of the babies when they are moving. This rules out the distress of the fetus and the preterm labor making sure your babies are all fine.
