Baby’s arrival can be anytime now!/ Yes, the time is near, by your 36th week you are a full-term mom-to-be and your baby is fully developed and ready to come put to this world! All the preps you think are necessary should be completed by now. Preps include your prenatal classes, breathing techniques to encounter labor, your hospital bag, and other baby stuff that you may need after the little angel comes home. Not to mention, do have a date or a toe with your partner, believe us, you will now get no partner time for a little while once the baby comes!

What to expect in the 36th week

With the size resembling Swiss Chard, your baby now measures 18.5-18.7 inches with a weight of 5.5-5.8 pounds approximately.

And yes, you are finally there! The last month means only four weeks left when you will see your baby in real life! Do not forget that your pregnancy may stretch more than forty weeks depending on your condition. However, 40weeks is the minimum if you are going for a natural birth!

Pregnancy Symptoms at 36 weeks

Some symptoms by your 36th week of pregnancy may ease out while others may enhance their intensity. Here is a list of different symptoms!

  • Better breathing

With the baby down in your pelvis, now your King’s hAve A spacious area to let you have the breaths. So no more breathless bees by now!

  • Pressure on pelvis

Again, with the baby descending in your pelvis, there will be increased pressure on your pelvis causing you to have pelvic discomfort.

  • Sleeplessness

It will be more difficult for you to have a sound sleep this week. This is because of the last steps of pregnancy in which everything increases for the baby to arrive safely and healthily.

You can plan and do exercises that will let you have a good sleep.

  • Acidity

the baby growing faster in this and coming weeks will crowd your systems including your digestive system. You cAn take tables such as antacids to help with the heartburn. Make sure you take the antacids after your doctor prescribes them to you.

  • Swelling on feet and ankles

Though it is recommended to look for sudden and severe swelling, a bit of swelling on your feet and ankles by the 36th week of your pregnancy is completely normal. Sif the swelling is sudden then it is a sign of danger you need to call your doctor right away in that case.

  • Variation in vaginal discharge

Watery vaginal discharge, blood, or discharge resembling mucus are signs of losing the mucus plug which is a sign of labor. You need to have a look at the discharge for the labor signs however, the normal discharge mAy increase by the 36th week of pregnancy.

  • Contractions

If you are not experiencing severe cramps that are unbearable then the contractions are the false ones. The tightening of the abdomen and Braxton hicks contractions are pretty common during this week.

Signs of labor at 36th week of pregnancy

Eater breaking is one of the songs of labor this week. If you have a gush of water coming from down it is a sure-shot sign of labor and you have to rush to the hospital. Furthermore, if you have contractions that are constant or regular is also a sign of labor. These pains are not normal ones. They are intense and unbearable so make sure you differentiate between the real and false contractions and make yourself ready accordingly.

Also, make sure if you have any doubt whether the contractions are false or true, run to the hospital to rule out the real contractions rather than waiting at home.

Your belly at 36th weeks

The belly of a 36th-week pregnancy mom-to-be will have drastic changes. With a weight gain of 24-36 pounds in total, you will have difficulty in moving overall. However, your weight in the coming weeks till the due date will be just a half-pound increase only.

However, with twins, the total weight gain can go up to 45 pounds. You can also have your delivery this week if you are carrying twins. The uncomfortable position you are in may disturb you a lot but the longer you hold healthier will your baby be.

Delivering a baby at 36 weeks.

With a single fetus waiting for a few weeks is ideally better. However, if you deliver this week the baby would be completely normal as it is late preterm. Not to mention the baby may have some respiratory distress but your doctor will take care of it so you don’t need to worry at all.

The ultrasound at the 36th week of pregnancy

The organs of your baby are properly working now.  The immune and the circulatory system are also completed with their skin getting smoother day by day. The gums of your baby are hard now. Your doctor may check the position of your baby which ideally should be head down. If not the baby is in breech position but don’t worry it can change any time naturally.

If your baby is I’m breech position, the doctor may perform a version procedure. The procedure involves moving the belly so that the baby changes its position. The doctor will give medicine to relax the uterus so that the movement can be performed easily. The ultrasound will be done to see the position of the baby and the position of the placenta too.

Furthermore, a Group B strep test will also be done to check for any bacterial infection in your vagina or rectum. If you are positive for it the doctor will give you antibiotics.

With the pregnancies that are at high risk or have any complications, a biophysical profile is done to have a better picture of the baby as it is nearing its arrival.

36 weeks pregnancy tips

  • Avoid spices

Heartburn is a big problem for you by now. The discomfort it brings is worth avoiding the spices and having the boring bland food meals. Any food that has citrus, vinegar, or spices together with fried food should be avoided to prevent heartburn.

  • Have dinner a bit earlier

If you have dinner near to the time you are sleeping then it may keep you up for the whole night. Snacking or eating dinner late will disturb you a lot so it’s better to have dinner as early as possible.

  • Put your feet somewhere up

You can help yourself with the swelling by elevating your feet where you cAn rest them. To ease out swelling you need to put your feet above the level of heart.

  • Order a belly sling

when the baby is putting pressure on the pelvis, you will need support to take off the pressure from your pelvic area. A belly sling will do wonders in this case, so you can invest in it to relax.

  • Make an appointment for your prenatal visit of 37th week
  • Make sure to get the maternity leave from your employers
  • Choose a pediatrician for your coming-soon-baby
