Firstly, welcome to the second trimester. The 14th week of pregnancy marks some changes like you might feel less nauseous and more energetic. Since you are more energetic now, it is time to get some pregnancy exercises done
You have now stepped into the second trimester of your pregnancy. This week is indeed special as your baby is developing facial muscles to smile. This is also the time when your baby has completely developed its genitals; however, you have to wait for some time to know whether it’s a princess or a prince. Your baby is now about 57 grams and is currently around 9-10 cm. Since your baby is developing so many changes, your body will also respond to it through different symptoms. So let’s check it
Most people have this common perception that pregnancy lasts for nine months but is actually 40 weeks long. So, technically 14 weeks pregnant means that you are in your third month of your pregnancy and beginning your second trimester
These are some of the common symptoms that you will be noticing as you step into the second trimester.
Your belly at 14 weeks
By the 14th week of your pregnancy, you will have quite a prominent pregnancy belly. You can also now feel the top of your uterus, which is known as the fundus. Another thing that most women experience as a result of the growth of their uterus is round ligament pain. Now, these are sharp, achy pain that one experiences on both the side of the abdomen. If you are 14 weeks pregnant your weight gain goal should be a bit more. Also, it is the right time to take prenatal yoga classes as exercise is really beneficial for a 14 week fetus
The ultrasound at 14th week of pregnancy
Generally, there no 14th week ultrasound. You would again have your anatomy scan done around week 18-22.
In the upcoming week, you will have your monthly prenatal visit to your doctor. You will also have an amniocentesis test between week 15 to week 20 if you are opting for it. Generally, you would opt for an amniocentesis under the following conditions
Amniocentesis is not mandatory, and it does carry a very small risk to it. So do talk to your medical expert and be guided with the complete procedure.
