2 Weeks Pregnant

There is something very beautiful about being pregnant. I think I enjoy being pregnant more than not being pregnant. I know it could go either way, and the next pregnancy could be the complete opposite.

– Chrissy Teigen

There is a lot of confusion around the first few weeks of pregnancy and when to start counting. For example, if you think you are in the second week of your pregnancy, you are either four or five weeks along. This is because most OBs begin counting your pregnancy on the first day of your last menstrual cycle (LMP). That is a week or two before you conceive.

The OBs adopt this approach to predict a due date more precisely. Your doctor will help you estimate how many weeks along you are.If you are in the second week of your last menstrual cycle, and you are trying to get pregnant- this is the best time to conceive.

In what is considered the second week of your pregnancy by doctors, your menstrual cycle should be over, and you should begin ovulating in the coming days. And while you are not pregnant, it is the best time since you are most fertile right now with your ovulation close. If you’re planning on trying to conceive, keep an eye out for signs of ovulation and do as you usually do try to get pregnant. Have sex around the days you hope to ovulate.

What to Expect in the Second Week

Symptoms

Getting pregnant requires you to time the sex around the time when you are most fertile, which is usually two days before you ovulate on the day you ovulate. If you have 28 days cycle, you’ll most likely ovulate on day 15. But not everybody has a 28-day cycle, So ovulation depends on the length of the menstrual cycle.

At two weeks, ovulation signs will help you figure out when is the right time to have sex and, ideally, conceive a child. In case you notice these symptoms in your second week since your menstrual cycle started, then there is a high chance that you are ovulating:

  • Cervical Mucus: Your cervical mucus, that is, the discharge from your vagina, becomes the consistency of an uncooked egg white. (Sorry for that mental image).

As you get close to your ovulation, your cervical mucus becomes thin, more clear and stringy. This helps the sperm to travel toward the egg or ovum and fertilize it.

  • A more acute sense of smell: Hormonal changes increase your ability to detect various scents. Your sense of smell will increase, and some smells may even cause nausea.
  • Sensitive or soreness of the breasts: When ovulation starts, the associated hormones rise in your body, making your breasts feel a little tender.
  • Pelvic discomfort. You can experience slightly sharp pain on one side of your abdomen. This is usually a sign that your ovary is releasing an egg. This is the condition known as Mittelschmerz, which was named after the doctor who was the first to record it.
  • Blood Spotting: As your body prepares or is ovulating, you will notice a faint tinge of red or brown on your panties. This spotting is normal; however, inform your doctor if you find something more severe than random spotting in between your periods or if the spotting is regular.
  • Your sex drive has increased: During ovulation, it is normal to have a higher libido. Your body is preparing to conceive as you ovulate, and it is natural that you will increasingly feel the need to have sex.
  • Changes in the cervical region When you check your cervix on a daily basis, as women who are trying to conceive do, you can see a difference when it dilates and higher, open, and softer open when you are ovulating.

Some women purchase an over-the-counter ovulation prediction kit in order to ascertain when they are most likely to get pregnant. One way to conceive is to have sex regularly from about day 10 to day 18 of the menstrual cycle—roughly the end of the second week to the start of the third week.

Changes in Your Body in the Second Week

You will not experience the symptoms of pregnancy as soon as you conceive. In fact, you won’t know for sure whether you are pregnant until you have enough pregnancy hormones in your bloodstream to be detected by a pregnancy test kit. This can happen around the fourth week of your pregnancy, which is also when you will be most likely miss your period. Around the fourth week, the hormone levels reach a point where they cause you to experience pregnancy symptoms. However, several women claim to have noticed early pregnancy symptoms before the fourth week.

The First Signs of Pregnancy

Pregnancy signs can start as soon as a few days after conception for certain people. Physical signs may arise, or you may actually feel that something is off in your body. Others may not notice any changes in their bodies until long after getting a positive pregnancy test.

These are the signs to look out for to find out if you have conceived in your second week:

  • Blood Spotting: You may see any bleeding from 5 to 10 days after conception. The embryo inserts itself into the lining of your uterus, triggering this.
  • Increase in the frequency of Urination: During the first few weeks of pregnancy, pregnancy hormones may trigger you to go to the bathroom more frequently than usual.
  • Breast sensitivity and/or darker areolas After conception, the body begins preparing the breasts for breastfeeding. This is the result of the pregnancy hormones surfacing.
  • Constant Fatigue: For some women, the first indication that they’re expecting is total fatigue. This is because your body can expend a lot of energy in order to grow the baby.
  • Morning Sickness.: Nausea is perhaps the most well-known pregnancy symptom, and it normally appears between the fourth and the ninth weeks.
  • Bloating: Being pregnant will definitely slow down digestion, as your body is absorbing more nutrients in order to give the nutrients to the developing baby. This can trigger some gas and bloat in your body.

Uncommon Early Symptoms of Pregnancy

You might experience nosebleeds, dizziness, acne, or a weird, metallic taste in your mouth. These symptoms could be early signs that you are pregnant.

Changes in the hormones cause the first signs of pregnancy, and those hormones will cause a lot of unusual symptoms. Although some of them are well-known, such as morning sickness and nausea, the strange taste in your mouth can be unexpected. Don’t be concerned with these strange symptoms, but make a list of them so you can tell your doctor if they worry you.

Medical Care in the Second Week of Pregnancy

Ultrasound

An ultrasound in the second week of your pregnancy is unlikely. What is going on in your body during the 2nd week of pregnancy is – your ovary first releases an egg (smaller than the size of a grain of ground pepper) into the fallopian tube, which must be fertilized within 12 to 24 hours. If you have had sex in the last six days, there’s a possibility you still have live sperm inside you, and one of them could fertilize the egg. You will have to have sex right around this time of your ovulation to conceive.

Suggestions to Follow During the Second Week of Pregnancy

●     In order to conceive, you must time the sex.

You need to estimate your ovulation window and try to conceive around that. Although you aren’t pregnant in the second week, you are most likely in the most fertile phase of your cycle, so it is the best time to have sex. During this period, have sex daily (However, the right time depends on your individual cycle to increase the chances of being pregnant.)

●     Relax and look after yourself.

It is a lot more enjoyable to conceive if you can try to relax. Furthermore, stress can reduce your chances of conceiving quickly. Try to integrate soothing, stimulating rituals into your life, such as attending a yoga session online or reading with a cup of tea every day. This is not only helpful to the general mental wellbeing, but it may also assist in the fertilization of the embryo and help you quickly get pregnant.

●     Take good care of yourself.

Treat the body well as it prepares to take on a major new task. Drink plenty of water and eat well and avoid unhealthy habits like smoking or heavy coffee intake. Just in case, it is a smart idea to avoid drinking alcohol right now and make sure to do some mild daily workouts.
