The 37th week is a crucial time of your pregnancy because now your baby is ready and your body is also prepared to bring your baby into this world soon. At this time you will be having natural instincts to create a safer space for your baby in your home; you will see yourself arranging rooms, scrubbing surfaces to make sure everywhere is squeaky clean. This is nothing but “nesting tendencies” which arise to make you prepared for the baby’s arrival. By this time you should be taking care of yourself with utmost precautions, make sure your partner is always around to look after you because you will need help at this time. You need to be fully prepared for the arrival of your little angel and that’s why the 37th week is very crucial by all means.

What to expect in the 37th week

At the 37th week of your pregnancy, your baby’s head will start looking a lot like a Roman Lettuce. The weight will somewhere be around 6.3 pounds and your baby will be measuring somewhat 19.1 inches. At this phase, your little angel is gaining small inches every day and getting ready to come out and see the world’s light.

When you are on the 37th week you are 9 months pregnant. You are very near your due date and fully prepared to welcome your baby into this world. On the 37th week, you are just three weeks away from your delivery.

Pregnancy symptoms of the 37th week.

On the 37th week of your pregnancy, your body is fully prepared to push your baby out, you are just three weeks away from seeing the beautiful face of your baby. During this time the symptoms can be a bit confusing and you will experience labor as well at this time. here are some of the symptoms you can experience.

Spotting. During this time spotting might happen especially if you are engaging in penetrative sex. This is because the cervix is being quite sensitive now and sex can irritate it causing a bit of bleeding. Also, vaginal bleeding without any cause can be problematic as it can be associated with your placenta, hence if this is happening do not delay consulting your doctor soon. If your bleeding is happening for more than a day do not hesitate from connecting your doctor as well.

Heartburn. As your baby increases in size, it starts putting pressure on your digestive system hence try to avoid spicy food as it will undoubtedly cause heartburns.

Troubled sleep. During this time your sleep patterns will be changing. You will be finding it difficult to have a complete sleep due to the movements of your baby and this is absolutely normal. You just need to hold tight because your baby is ready to see the world’s light and the excitement is costing your sleep for few weeks.

Evident stretch marks. On the 37th week, your stretch marks will be quite evident on your belly. During this time for the increasing size of your baby, your skin will stretch to a huge extent as a result the marks will be vividly visible. Keep yourself hydrated during this time and keep slathering oil or moisturizer on your belly often.

Nausea. On the 37th week of your pregnancy you will be very close to your due date and as a result, feeling nauseous is absolutely normal. Your digestive system will be under pressure and as a result, vomiting will be a sign.

Signs of labor in your 37th week of pregnancy.

During this week your body is almost prepared to push your baby out and hence the signs of labor will be severe so it is better you keep things organized and stay cautious to rush to the hospital immediately when you see yourself going into labor.

Signs of labor will be frequent contractions along with the discharge of your mucus plug as well. Contractions will take place when your body will stretch your cervix to make way for the baby. The mucus plug is a blob of mucus that was protecting the cervix, when your body will be getting ready it will be passed down via your vagina, so if you see a big mucus blob with a tinge of blood you are going into labor. Other signs will be nausea and severe back and abdominal pain. If your water breaks then do not delay, rush to your doctor immediately.

Can the baby be delivered in the 37th week?

If it is an urgent requirement advised by your doctor then delivering the baby on the 37th week is fine, but normally do not become impatient and schedule an early delivery. Some last moment preparations are happening in your body naturally during this time, so let your baby and your body do it. If your body is going into labor naturally then it is fine or else does not rush into pushing your baby out.

Ultrasound in the 37th week of pregnancy.

As a part of a biophysical profile, the 37th-week ultrasound will be performed. The profile will be analyzed to know the baby’s condition and an ultrasound and a non-stress testing procedure will be utilized to analyze the following.

During this time your baby will be doing new things like blinking, inhaling, exhaling and will try to grip things all these will excite you to see your baby/babies as soon as you can. But hold tight and wait for a while until your body and baby are fully ready.

Tips to follow in the 37th week of pregnancy.

  • Stay hydrated.

Hydration is extremely important for your body especially when you are a few weeks away from your due date. Keep drinking water, juices anything that soothes you and keeps you well hydrated. Even if you have to run to urinate often make sure you do not restrict yourself from drinking water.

  • Take tonics to cure your nausea.

You can consume ginger tea or any other tonics to help cure your nausea. If it is going out of your control make sure you contact your doctor to get medicines.

  • Massage your belly.

Your belly skin will be stretched to a huge extent at this point and to make sure your stretch marks do not persist you need to massage your skin. Make sure you use some thick oil like almond or olive oil on your belly to massage well. Otherwise, you can use a thick moisturizer to keep your skin plumped and moisturized.

  • Keep your things organized.

Since this is the crucial time when your baby will be ready to come out you need to prepare yourself. Hence keep your hospital bag ready, get the car seat, keep your essentials near, and most importantly make sure your partner is around you or whoever is helping you in this pregnancy is always around you because you will need a lot of help and emotional support during this time.

  • Keep your baby’s room organized.
  • Get your ultrasound done.
  • Drink loads of water.
