VACCINE FOR COVID-19 AFFECTED

Covid 19

In a year, there have been many deaths reported because of the COVID-19 spread. The deaths were more when compared with heart diseases or cancer. To prevent the deaths, scientists came up with vaccines that were declared for emergency use.

The government urges its citizens to take 2 doses of the vaccine for reducing the risk of getting affected by the virus.

People who already had COVID-19 are also advised to take the vaccine to prevent reinfection and reduce the severity of getting sick again.

Natural Immunity Lowers

When a person is infected with COVID-19, their immune system recognizes the virus and begins to develop antibodies against it. Once that person has recovered, the immunity might last for a short time. From studies, it is told that the immunity produced from infection might last for 3-4 months after which the person is susceptible to get infected again.

Increase Your Immunity Using Vaccine

Vaccination might increase the immunity against COVID-19. Vaccines are 95% effective in preventing infection. Vaccines help in preventing reinfection in people who have already been exposed to the virus and lowers the risk of infection in people with no history of exposure. Vaccines should be available to everyone irrespective of their history of prior symptomatic or asymptomatic infection. The CDC advises that people who were already infected can wait up to nearly 90 days to get vaccinated if they are willing to take a vaccine. From the available evidence, it is suggested that reinfection with this virus is rare within 90 days of initial infection. If someone has active symptoms of COVID-19, they can wait and get vaccinated until they are recovered fully.

Risks And Benefits

COVID-19 vaccines carry some risk of side effects. The ongoing research shows that the side effects tend to be mild and short-lived. The benefit of vaccines is that you will have a potentially extended or refreshed immunity to COVID. The most commonly reported side effect associated with the vaccine is pain around the injection site. Few people who received the vaccine might develop other side effects such as fatigue, headache, and muscle aches, which will resolve within a day or so.

Wearing a mask has been strongly advised as protection against COVID-19. According to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), wearing masks can reduce the risk of coronavirus by more than 70%. So the question that pops up is if one mask can reduce the risk to such an extent, then how is effective will wearing two masks be? Here’s what experts have to say.

Wearing a double mask might be efficient, according to Firas Zabaneh, MT (ASCP), CIC, CIE, director of system infection prevention and control for Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
