After monsoon, winter is one such season that can force you to sit in the house and can shut you in your home because of the chill weather, or if you live in a cold country, then maybe snowfall or storms. On certain days winter might feel like a mini lockdown, and you may not be in the habit of your kids being around you 24*7, and handling them might get you going crazy. Or if you are bored of seeing movies and playing games every day, there are certain tips or ways which you can use, which may help you in keeping a peaceful environment and will help your kids

These ways may sound interesting to your child, and you all can have new ways to enjoy this winter shutdown –

Technology detox

This might sound crazy at first because technology is one thing that keeps you all connected or keeps you from getting bored, but once you try this techno detox your kids will start understanding the importance of the world beyond technology. They will start seeing things they often do not, such as the household chores or the kitchen work etc. By this detox, your kids’ screen time will also get reduced and will benefit their health as well.

Creativity at peak

You can utilize this time and get creative with your kids by indulging in indoor activities such as dancing, drawing, or even karaoke nights. You can make blanket forts at night and watch movies in them. Your kids will love it when you show interest in the activities they would like. You can invent your games such as home Olympic events where you keep small indoor games, and winners will be given certain gifts. This shut-in is the time to get creative with your family.

Teach them new things

Winter shut down can be one of the best times to teach your kids new things be it household chores, some new hobbies, or new subjects in the educational area. These things can keep your children busy and will refrain them from being cranky.

It Is not necessary that you can only have fun in rooms or living rooms. You need to think out of the box. Find places to visit, which are generally indoor. Such as museums, aquariums, or a family fitness center.

Remembering nights

You can share your childhood stories or even some photos and videos with your kids. Share stories that might be relatable to your kids and motivate them. You can also watch some old-school classic serials or movies that are your favorites. This will help your kids to understand you and know you well.

Bonfire

Well, if you have a backyard, a bonfire and barbeque session can be great fun. Make your kids help you in setting up the bonfire and barbeque grill.

Teach them to give

If you see any person struggling in winter and is suffering from cold because of the non-availability of winter clothes, encourage your kids to share their winter clothes with them. Teach them the habit of giving them to the needy ones.

Virtual clubs

Thanks to the pandemic, now we have plenty of virtual activities or clubs to attend.

Small business

If your kids have some hobbies or can create something that can lead to a potential business, you can encourage them to have an idea on it and start it as well for the days you are shut in and after, which may be a part-time job. This will keep your kid busy and help them focus on future goals.
