You can lower your chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 if you take these steps:

  • Wash your hands well and often. Use hand sanitizer when you’re not near soap and water.
  • Try not to touch your face.
  • Wear a mask when you go out.
  • Follow your community guidelines for staying home.
  • Clean and disinfect places and things you touch a lot.
  • When you do go out in public, leave at least 6 feet of space between you and others.
  • Don’t go out if you don’t feel well.
  • Cover your mouth with your elbow when you cough or sneeze, or use a tissue.

Everyone is at risk of getting COVID-19, but you have a higher chance of getting seriously ill from it if you:

  • Are 65 or older, especially if you live in a nursing home or other care facility
  • Have asthma or lung disease, though more research is needed on this.

Here are the ways that can reduce the chances of getting affected by Coronavirus

As an individual, everyone is concerned as to how they can manage to save their families and the loved ones from the pandemic. Here are the 10 ways you can introduce to reduce the chances of getting coronavirus.

I. Make your family members wash their hands frequently and in-between activities like cooking or eating. Use soap and water with the stated hand washing routine by WHO for 20 seconds. This will help to remove any germs or viruses making the person free of infection.

Also, if they’re out make them use or instruct them to use hand sanitiser frequently with the same hand movements while washing with soap and water.

II. Cover their faces with the prescribed mask or any cloth with several layers, before they step out. The droplets of sneezing remain in the air for a particular time and it is more likely they can enter into the nostril. Therefore, don’t let them step out without any covering on their faces. Though, some say coronavirus can penetrate from the skin but this hasn’t been supported enough. The doctors say to cover yourself fully to avoid any cough and cold symptoms. It would be better if you cover yourself as the weather is changing and people can have chances of cold or cough.

III. Avoid public transports and make them avail the digital facility to finish their necessary works. Social distancing is the need of the hour. There should be three- or six-feet minimum distance between them and other people.

V. Get your home surfaces cleaned now and then. The surfaces like the door handle, windows, or the surface you feel your family uses most, must be cleaned and sanitized regularly to avoid any bacteria or infection staying at the object.

VI. Sharing can be dangerous. Gulping a food item from your child’s plate or snatching away your food can be dangerous. Tell them to stay away from sharing things, which will even prevent them from sharing their stuff outside even if you aren’t with them. Make them realize why they shouldn’t share at this moment and also inform them that you’ll let them share in the future which won’t make them think sharing is bad.

VIII. Don’t let them travel unnecessarily like attending marriages or any get-togethers because the pandemic hasn’t been eradicated yet. Stay cautious and stay healthy.

IX. Have all their necessary needs packed and reserved at their place of living to avoid their traveling to markets. Also, have all the necessary medicines stocked up so that they can last long. Have extra precautions for the family members who are above 60 years, have diabetes or heart or lung diseases, and are consuming immune suppression drugs.

X. Get them properly vaccinated. This is the saviour of time and can make you free of the worries of having your family members any symptoms. You can get them vaccinated as and when it is available around you. And, once they’re fully vaccinated, you feel calm of any infections clinging to them.
