my baby is 5th month started whether i can give cerelac

Cerelac is very popular amongst new parents and infants. It is basically a form of cereal that can be made edible in a matter of minutes. Working parents who may not have a lot of time to prepare a wholesome meal for their babies mainly use Cerelac as a substitute. It saves a lot of time and can deliver proper nutrients to your little one. However, even though a lot of parents are very well accustomed to its significance, they do not know when it is the most appropriate time to introduce their babies to this food. We’re here to help you through this problem.

Cerelac for Babies:

  • Breast milk should be the exclusive food for babies until six months of age.
  • Your child may show signs of a properly developed gag reflex to avoid choking very early in life, but you should refrain from introducing solid foods to their diet until they are at least six months old.
  • After this, you may start by feeding them Cerelac, especially for babies of this age group. There are several varieties of Cerelac available that differ in their composition.
  • Some varieties use wheat as their base ingredient. If your child has a wheat allergy, then steer clear of this variant.
  • Almost all Cerelac products use skimmed milk as an essential component; thus, it is best to avoid this baby food item if your infant is lactose-intolerant. In addition, introducing Cerelac too early on can have consequences on your child’s health.

You may start feeding your babies with Cerelac when they are half a year old, but you must not stop breastfeeding until they are well over a year. You can continue even after that, but one year is the minimum limit.
