A letter that I wrote to myself

Family

It’s a common scenario at my house, breakfast time, I am getting ready for my office and my son is doing all that is possible for me to lose my temper.

Family

I am Raghuvendra Joshi from Mysore and a father of 8-year-old Yash.

But, today, I felt different. I wanted to confide in him and say that I am sorry. I wanted to tell him that I love him. I wanted to tell him that no matter what, I will acknowledge the fact that even though we have spent 8 years so far together, but you are just an eight-year-old.

I would keep on saying “the butter on your roast is a little too thick”. While you are dressed up I would see that shirt being untidily tucked into your pants and would miss out on that smile on your face that tells a thousand words. I would scream at you for not sleeping on time but forgetting that you are learning this from us, you see us awake till past midnight watching TV and thus you want to do the same.

And there had been so many things.

But today…when you wished me a happy birthday by keeping a handmade card next to my bed with a picture of me, you and mom drew by you…….I could see the distance between us. Between your hand and mine. Between the words that we have spoken o each other.

I am sorry son.

And I know that no matter of apology can bring back the old-time, but I know what I can do from now on.
