WHEN I MET HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Love Couple

I was only 17 when I met Arjun. He was smart, he was good-looking and as a girl of that age would always want, he was popular in our school. Now, I was popular too, but you know you always tend to underestimate yourself.

I wish I was told by my parents that I was good, and I needn’t be perfect. I wish I was told that it’s fine to be an average person in this world who is fighting for unknown and meaningless victories. I wish someone would have told me that love doesn’t just mean being attracted physically but you need to get connected to that person too.

I MET HIM

So anyway, as we moved to a college in Delhi, we decided to get married, and yes I got married against my parent’s wishes at a super young age of 22. I had no job, and Avinash was from an affluent family so he needn’t do a job, well that’s what was his mindset.

Sports cars, clubbing, and vacations.

That was pretty much our life in the first year of marriage. And then, as if something came and hit our relation so strongly that we couldn’t get up again. We started falling out of “so-called love”. I now know that it never was. It’s more like something a vacation that you were doing. It was definitely just flowing at the moment without giving an iota of thinking into it.

2 years down the line I was pregnant and the entire family was so excited. I was happy too. Now I don’t mean to be rude here, but there was a feeling in me at that time that they were all rejoicing only for the baby. They started caring about what I eat, they have never even noticed anything about me, not even on the days that I used to feel sick. I was just one person, who was provided with a car and a driver, and a card to buy anything that I wanted. Avinash started traveling abroad because of his family business and he would only return for few days in a month and then again back.

Love Couple

After 1 year of my first baby I got pregnant again and this time I wanted to scream at Avinash, but he wasn’t there. I was happy, but I needed someone to share all the emotions with. I kept on spending on clothes, on all those meaningless friends who I made during the kitty parties that my mother-in-law will insist me on joining. She would inspect what I will wear for all those parties. And once again everything started looking like a competition.

One night, as I was struggling between setting up my older son’s school bag and feeding the younger ones, I got a call from my dad. We haven’t spoken in almost 5 years. He said “ if you want, you can come home”, and he hung up the phone. I couldn’t sleep that night. There were so many thoughts going on in my head. I was crying constantly. Should I leave Avinash or shall I just go and tell everything to my parents.

The next morning,

I packed my bags and went down to my house. YES, MY HOUSE. My parents were waiting for me. And the moment they hugged me, I started crying and it went on for more than an hour, but I felt so light after that.

That’s when I realized that the most important thing in the world for a child is the unconditional love they get from their parents.

If you are wondering that what have I done to my relationship with Avinash. Well, we are married and I am now owning my own fashion brand in Hauz Khas, New Delhi. I visit my parents more often than you can think. And Avinash, well he has changed, not much. But it has stopped bothering me.
